Tag : Holiday Traditions :)

I'm really excited for the holidays :D Not only is it my favorite time of the year, but it also means I have two weeks off from Uni! Cannot wait to relax all day and not feel guilty about it :P

Anyway, since I really enjoy getting in the spirit of the holidays, I decided to do this tag I've seen going around on YouTube!

Questions:

1) Which holiday do you celebrate?

I celebrate Christmas :) It's my favorite holiday!

2) What are you doing for the holidays this year?

I will spend it with my family, boyfriend and cats (yep I'm bringing them!) in Montreal. We will also see his family while we're there. We might also take a little vacation somewhere around the 31st! No firm plans yet though.

The tiny Christmas tree we had at home, for lack of enough space :) Isn't it cute?

3) What's your favorite holiday drink?

Believe it or not, I don't have one! In my family, there isn't really any drinks associated with Christmas. My favorite winter drink is hot chocolate though! Does that count?

4) Candy cane or Gingerbread men?

I've only had Gingerbread men a couple times in my life and that was very long ago. I'm not sure I remember the taste, so I'll go for candy cane. I'd love to give gingerbread men a try :)

5) What's your favorite holiday/Christmas song?

Where are you Christmas - Faith Hill (I like the version from The Grinch <3)

6) What's the weirdest gift you've ever received?

I honestly have no idea. I don't think I ever got a weird gift. I guess that's lucky :3

7) Have you ever made a snowman?

Yep tons of times, and snow angels :D Since we have a couple feet of snow every year over here, it's kind of hard not to!

That's the view from our old appartment. There wasn't that much snow yet, but it was really pretty out :D

8) What is your favorite winter fragrance?

Just my regular favorite fragrance : Jean Paul Gaultier Classique. It's particularly great for winter though, since it's a spicy vanilla kind of scent.

9) What is at the top of your list this Christmas? (or whichever holiday you celebrate!)

A Kindle!

10) What is most important to you about the holidays?

Getting together with the family, and the yummy food! I love the atmosphere, the decoration and the lights too <3

First video : Christmas Green and Gold Metallic Party Tutorial

Alright so I thought it would be nice to show you the process for achieving this look instead of just posting pictures for once :P I tryed making a picture tutorial, but I'm too impatient and I could never get the angles right to really show what I'm doing.

So I decided to take a chance a make a video about it. No talking just text and the video :) I'm not 100% happy with the way it turned out (weird angles - couldn't find any music to add - the camera quality isn't that great), but I think it still gives  good idea of how you can achieve this look!

The look is a holiday/christmas party look. I chose the traditionnal colors : Green and gold on the lids, as well as red on the lips!

And here a the pictures from the video of the look :)

Annoying piece of hair sticking out in almost every picture XD

Please leave me feedback in the comments about the video! Please don't be too difficult though x_x it's my very first video. Tell me what I should improve on/what you liked :D Should I do any more of these? Was it helpful?

New Background + Banner :D

I felt like changing the blog up a little so I changed the theme and the background. This background can be found in the Blogger's default background bank. Not bad right?

I always find it hard to find a background that I like, so I'm pretty happy I got off easy this time :P

Tell me what you think! Do you like this new berry/purple look?

Food Snapshots

It feels like I haven't posted about food in forever so I thought I would share a couple recent random food snapshots :)

I don't have a lot of pictures since I don't have any time to cook or bake with school these days! There should be more food posts in the upcoming weeks though, since I will be spending Christmas in Montreal and I will probably bake a few deserts to bring to Christmas parties!

These are savory pastries (except for the cupcakes in the right corner) from my favorite asian pastry shop in Chinatown Harmonie. All of these cost us only 13$ - There is cheese bread a garlic bun, plus egg and ham, tuna, teriyaki chicken and beef curry pastries

Raspberry yogourt with granola and fresh raspberries! Healthy and so delicious :)

My dinner at L'Académie restaurant. It's a filet mignon (6 oz I believe) in port wine sauce. It's great! I also love their duck duo.

Caramel molten cake with vanilla ice cream - LOVE

Afternoon snack at Tim Hortons - I love their timbits :D
That's all for now! I hope I'll have more yummy pictures to share soon!

What are your plans for the holidays? What are your favorite holiday foods? Mine are tourtière (meat pie), sucre à la crème (I have no idea if it has an english name, sorry!), cheese and pâtés with bread and my mom's ragoût de boulettes (meatball stew I think it's called). Actually there is probably a ton other things I adore, but I can't think of any more right now. Let me know in the comments what your favorites are! :D

17 Reasons I Want to Visit Japan

With school keeping me super busy lately, I can't help but day-dream about traveling and all the fun stuff I could do there.

One country in particular that has always been very high on my priority list is Japan. It might very well be the place I want to visit most. The only reason I haven't been yet is because I know that there is so much I want to do there. Since the country is pretty expensive to travel to, I prefer waiting and going once I'm not on such a tight budget anymore so that I can truly enjoy everything I want to do there without a restrictive budget.

For fun, I compiled a list of some of the top things I want to see/eat/witness/purchase etc. There is so much more, but since the whole culture is fascinating to me, I will restrain myself to only the first things that come to my mind :P

Products I reach for most often

Hauls are fun to look at/watch and always give me ideas of products I'd love to try, however what I enjoy even more is favorites/most used products posts and videos because you can truly know what products everyone is using and enjoying.

These are my most reached for products lately! I love and would recommend all of these :D

Urban Decay Primer potion, this is a recent repurchase, but I love this and use it every time I wear eyeshadow

You can tell I've been using this duo quite a lot! It's actually a small size of the eyeshadows in Tea Biscuits and Cinnamon from Estée Lauder.

This EcoTools blending brush came with the 6 piece Eye set, I use it to blend all my eyeshadows, it soft and works great, plus it's super cheap.

This foundation has light coverage, which is perfect for me since I'm not a fan of covering my skin up.

I wear this blush pretty much on a daily basis, it looks natural, but makes my skin glow. I love it!

Probably the softest brush I own, I use this for all my powder products from blush to bronzer and powder.

My 120 palette from BH Cosmetics. The color combinations are endless.

NYX Eye Pencil in black and white. Creamy and easy to apply and very affordable, my favorite cheap pencils!

Chi Silk Infusion, I use this on my hair every time I wash it. I think I've mentionned this product multiple times, but it's that good to me :)

I've got this gloss fairly recently, but I can't get over how pretty it is! The large flecks of sparkle really show up on your lips and the color is nice and subtle. Other plus, it smell and tastes like birthday cake, yum! I put it over everything.

I have a couple mascaras, but I always end up wearing this one. It doesn't give me much volume, but I love how it defines, separates and lenghtens.

I love this as a base to make any bright colors pop. I use it in most shadow looks I make!

L'Oréal Liner Intense liquid liner, it lasts a long time, is super easy to apply and won't flake off.
These are my most reached for products, what are yours?

Simple Silver and Black Smokey Eye

I've wanted to make a simple smokey eye for a while now. I like the combination of silver with a black smokey eye so I decided to highlight the lids with a silvery shade from my Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Collection in Blue Had Me at Hello.

I used the Black shade and the silver shade for this look. I also blended out the black with pale beige color from the Comfort Zone Palette.

I think it came out not too bad! I don't do smokey looks very often, so I'm not an expert at it, but I still like the results! It would be good for an Holiday Party of for going out! What makeup looks do you like to wear during the holiday season? Let me know in the comments :)

Nail Polish Stash

I've been accumulating nail polishes for the last three years and my stash has grown quite a bit since I started collecting. I thought I would share it for fun and in case anyone would be interested in swatches of any of the colors I own!

I have polishes from Revlon, Wet n Wild, Sally Hansen and Ardène mostly, but I also have a couple random brands here and there as well! I tend to stick to brands that are cheap as you can see and I have yet to try any more expensive ones. The pricier polish brand I would most like to try is China Glaze :) Any other recommendations on good brands I should try?

Perfect Pink, Strawberry Electric, Frankly Scarlet, Make Mine Mango

Ocean Breeze, Midnight Affair, No Shrinking Violet, Steel Her Heart

Disco Ball, White On, Purple Potion, Pacific Blue, Ivy League, Sun Kissed

Poolside in Malibu, Malibu Splash, Ballet Shoes, Neon Pink, Purple Rain

Black, Ice Breaker, White

Kaleidoscope, Burgundy Frost, Purple Potion

I can't find the names for these :o

Big Apple Red, Red Rules This Yule, Fleeting, Golden Red

Going Grape, Gray's Anatomy, Femme Fatale, Distressed Denim

That's all the polishes I have, you'd think I'd have more after three years :P Anyway tell if I should swatch any of these!
